You can get a single traveller option, but you’ll need to pay an extra full single supplement. Please contact us for pricing.

Accommodation costs and the regular menu are included. Getting to and from your tour start location isn’t included. Your tour also doesn’t include the cost of immigration, or port/airport taxes that are levied locally. Tips, laundry, excess baggage charges and other items of a similar personal nature are not included. Wine, liquors, mineral water or other beverages such as tea and coffee when not included in the regular menu.

Getting to and from your tour start and end location is entirely up to you, so if you wish to fly into New Zealand to take part in a tour – it’s an additional cost. We do offer assistance with organising pre and post tour accommodation, just let us know when you book.

All meals are included, however wine, liquors, mineral water or other beverages such as tea and coffee when not included in the regular menu. Let us know if you have special dietary requirements with your booking, we do cater for vegetarians, but if there’s anything , let us know and we’ll get back to you.

No responsibility is accepted for loss or expense due to sickness, injury, repatriation, weather, strikes, war, quarantine, negligence, loss of baggage or other causes, such losses being the responsibility of the traveller and for certain of which insurance is available. Nature Quest New Zealand Ltd. reserves the right to refuse a booking if there is no valid, adequate medical and repatriation insurance. 

We’re reasonable and realise that sometimes, people need to cancel. Should you have to cancel your tour, you should notify us in writing advising us of the reason for cancellations. The scale of cancellation charges is calculated according to the number of days prior to departure that we receive written notice:

The cancellation charges are as follows:

• 29-59 days                          30% of total course fee
• 15-28 days                          45% of total course fee
• 8-14 days                             75% of total course fee
• 1-7 days                               100% of total course fee

We recommend a moderate level of fitness, you should be comfortable to walk for an hour or so, at a moderate to gentle inclines. Walking shoes or tramping boots are recommended. 

The unique flora and fauna of the region, we plan our tours seasonally, to make the most of environments at certain times of the year. We can’t promise to have you see the animal you’ve got your heart set on, but we do hope you’ll gain an insight into their unique environment anyway.

This is a tricky one! You’ll be seeing (if they choose to show up that is) animals in their natural environment, this means they’re wild animals and should be treated as such, that means keeping a safe distance, but also respecting the animals natural space so they can feel okay to go about their day. When it comes to some tours, you’ll get to see wildlife workers helping animals in an up-close way and get a real close encounter. We’re big on leaving only footprints and taking only pictures when it comes to flora and fauna. 

Every tour is different! But there’s a few things that are similar, you’ll hopefully gain some insight and knowledge from experienced and passionate guides into the unique natural world and environment that you visit. You’ll hopefully get to see some unique animals and plants up close and learn more about their natural habitat and the current challenges our plants and wildlife face with the changing environment.

Your typical standard travel gear is a good idea. Jackets, sunscreen, hats and sunnies. We also recommend you bring a camera, torch and weather for cold conditions. Weather in some countries, like New Zealand, can be often unpredictable and you don’t want to get caught out. Kathmandu have some great travel packing guides. You don’t need to spend the earth, but if you don’t have items like solid walking boots, now might be the time to splash out and get some. 

Generally. around ten to twelve people, however, it can really depend. We have people come as couples, groups or families, as well as people come by themselves and meet other like-minded travellers and make life-long friends. If there are fewer than eight people, there may be a surcharge added to your tour. Participants booked on the trip who do not want to pay this surcharge can withdraw from the trip with no additional cancellation fee.

The overwhelming majority of people who book a tour with us are non-smokers. To help everyone enjoy their holiday in comfort, we ask that any smokers refrain from smoking around the group and while watching wildlife. Smoking inside is not permitted, and in agreeing to a tour, you accept these guidelines. We ask that if you do smoke, you do so respectfully, so we can all have a comfortable holiday.

Our tours are really popular with people aged between 35-65. In saying that, we’ve had people as young as 20 and as old as 80 on a tour. If you’ve got a moderate level of physical fitness and an interest in the great outdoors, we should all get along great. Who knows, you might make some new lifelong friends!

We don’t mind a glass of wine or a nice cold beer after a long day, but we expect everyone on tour to be sensible and responsible. Different countries have different drug and alcohol policies, and we expect you to respect that and adhere to their rules.
